The President of Lanka Teacher Services Union, Dhammika Alahapperuma has been hospitalized after he was hit with a stone during a protest held in front of the Education Ministry in Battaramulla this afternoon (Jul 04).
 
When contacted a hospital spokesperson said that his condition is not serious.
 
The teacher and principal unions reported sick leave today and they staged a protest march towards the Ministry.
 
Then a tense situation was created between the protestors and a group who had received new appointments.
 
It was during this melee, that the union leader was attacked with pelts.
