Several organizations have complained to police against her statement and the IGP has handed over the investigation to the Colombo Crimes Division.

Accordingly, Senior DIG in charge of Crimes told us that the director is conducting the investigation.

He also said that police expect to make submissions to the Jaffna Magistrate Court and obtain his views over the incident.

Meanwhile, State Minister of Child Affairs, Vijayakala Maheswaran this morning said that she decided to resign from her portfolio.

She said she took the decision after having consulted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
