The Met Department says there’s a high probability that wind speeds will continue to increase up to 50- 60 kmph, throughout the island and surrounding sea areas in the next few days.

Intermittent showers will occur in the Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, and light showers could be expected elsewhere.

The coast belt extending from Negombo to Batticaloa via Puttalam, Kankesanturai to Trincomalee, and Hambantota to Pottuvil are expected to be unusually rough at times,  as  wind speeds increase up to 60 to 65 kmph.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant over this development.
