The Duty Manager of the Bandaranaike International Airport says due to the bad weather in Katunayake area, two flights scheduled to be landed at the BIA were diverted to the Mattala International Airport this morning (Jul 16).
 
The flight from Dubai which was scheduled to touch down at the BIA to 4.35 am was diverted to Mattala first and it returned to the BIA at 7.20 am.
 
It was an A-330 Airbus.
 
Thereafter, a SriLankan Airlines' flight from Mumbai which was to reach the BIA at 5.35 am was also diverted to Mattala and it came back to the BIA at 7.40 am.
 
It was an A-320 Airbus.
 
The Duty Manager said that none of the passengers of the two flights did exit at Mattala.
