The Chief Incumbent of Gampaha, Naagasella Sri Vivekaaraama Temple, Venerable Aparaekkkey  Pagngnaananda Thera has been arrested for allegedly abusing an under-aged boy.
 
Later the monk was remanded till 26th this month.
 
Police arrested the 63-year-old monk and was produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate court.
 
The monk was arrested last forenoon (Jul 18) after a complaint was lodged with police that the suspected monk had allegedly abused a 9-year-old under-aged boy.
 
Aparaekkkey  Pagngnaananda Thera was elected as an MP at the 2004 general election from the Jaathika Hela Urumaya.
 
Police said that the child is now receiving treatment at the Gampaha Hospital.
