The Attorney General’s Department informed the court today (Jul 19) that the SIM cards found in the prison cell of Arjun Aloysius have revealed details on various crimes.

This was disclosed when the controversial Central Bank Bond Scam case was taken up before the Colombo Fort Magistrate, Lanka Jayaratne.

The Senior Deputy Solicitor General who appeared for the Attorney General's Department told the court that steps would be taken to make submissions to relevant courts, after conducting a proper investigation with regard to those SIM cards.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Department informed the court today that Perpetual Treasuries Limited has conducted illegally as a primary dealer in Central Bank bond transactions.

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Haripriya Jayasundera told the court that Perpetual Treasuries has violated the Financial Act through those actions.

She also said that Perpetual Treasuries Limited has been ordered to provide the information about the third party to which the bond scam money was remitted.

She said the chairman of that group of companies, Jeffrey Aloysius has not done it as yet.

At that juncture, Attorney-at-Law, Jeevantha Jayathilaka who appeared for Jeffrey Aloysius informed the court that the CID has already taken into their custody the documents and computers of that company.

He said, therefore, the company has found it difficult to provide the required information.

He further told the court that only some furniture is left in the company office at the moment and its staff does not report for work as the company has no money to pay their salaries.

Meanwhile, Perpetual Treasuries owner Arjun Aloysius and his CEO Kasun Palisena who are in prison in connection with the Central Bank Bond scam were further remanded until 2nd of August.
