Quorum bell rung twice in Parliament during the New York Times debate

The adjournment debate on the New York Times exposure with regard to China funding former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s election campaign was held today (Jul 19)
 
However, due to the lack of the quorum, the bell was rung twice in parliament due to the lack of quorum.
 
Opposition members raised a severe objection when the debate was moved by UNP MP, Thushara Indunil.
 
The claimed that the debate was not moved compliance to the accepted rules.
 
Later, when Deputy Minister, Nalin Bandara was speaking during the debate, Opposition MP, Keheliya Rambukwella pointed out that the debate should not be continued due to the lack of quorum.
 
The debate commenced again after the quorum was completed a little later.
