The officials of the Bribery Commission have arrested a police sergeant while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,000 from a driver in Makola.

The police sergeant who was attached to Kiribathgoda Police had demanded Rs. 1,000 from a driver to return his driving license after it was taken into custody for a traffic violation. 

The Bribery Commission officials arrested the policeman while he was accepting the money.

Meanwhile, the Bribery Commission officials arrested the Export-Import controller while accepting a bribe of Rs. 200,000 from a businessman.

It was found that the suspect had demanded the bribe from the businessman from Weligama to allow him to import two vehicles which were old around 10 years from Japan.
