Prof. Raj Somadeva from the Kelani University's Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology says that some of the bone fragments recovered from Mannar mass grave show evidence of cuts made with sharp objects.

When contacted, the Professor said that while bone fragments of more than 58 human skeletons have been recovered at this stage, it is not possible to definitively conclude whether the cut wounds had been caused before the death of each individual.

The bone fragments recovered in the excavation are now kept at Mannar court complex for analysis.

investigations began following the detection of a stock of bone fragments on 26th of March.

The fragments were found in a heap of soil at the site of the old Mannar CWE building.
