The Indian Civil Aviation Ministry today says there is no proposal under consideration for India to buy a controlling stake in Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport.

The Ministry comments come less than a week after the Sri Lankan government said that it has asked the business plan for operating the Mattala airport.

In the Lok Sabha, BJP member Poonam Mahajan asked whether the AAI is considering purchasing a controlling stake in the Mattala airport, thereby gaining the ownership of the airport.

In reply Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Jayant stated that no such proposal is under such consideration at present.
