Former SLMC chairman says GMOA strike "illegal"

The one-day strike action launched by the Government Medical Officers' Association will continue until 8 am tomorrow.
 
The strike saw the patients being inconvenienced throughout the country.
 
The Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Haritha Aluthge said that a series of strikes will be launched if their demands are not met.
 
The GMOA cited their opposition to Sri Lanka - Singapore FTA and 10 other reasons for their strike action.
 
Meanwhile, Medical Specialists Association's President Dr. Sunil Wijesinha said the strike has spread to the private sector hospitals as well.
 
Meanwhile, addressing the media in Colombo, former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, Prof. Colvin Gunaratne said this strike is illegal.
