Train strike continues, Army steps in to provide transport to A/L students

The Deputy Minister of Transport Ashok Abeysinghe noted that holiday leave of SLTB employees will be cancelled.
 
The government has also permitted commuters to use their tickets or season pass to travel by SLTB buses with no charge.
 
The Minister of Finance and Media, Mangala Samaraweera noted that private buses will be permitted to travel on any route, without route permits, in an attempt to ease the transport crisis.
 
The Transport Ministry noted that in order to minimize the inconvenience caused to Advanced Level candidates, a special bus service has been deployed.
 
The Government Information Department, issuing a communiqué, noted that a special bus service will be provided by the Army.
