The railway trade unions have decided to continue the ongoing strike.

The decision was taken during a meeting held this afternoon.

The strike was launched yesterday afternoon against the delay to implement some pledges given by the government with regard to the railway workers' salary anomalies.

Meanwhile, five unions in the train observation management service have also joined in the ongoing strike launched by locomotive engine drivers, railway guards, controllers and station masters.

However, railway authorities assigned non-striking workers to run 8 trains from Colombo Fort to Chilaw, Rambukkana, Maho, Galle, Avissawella, and Kandy this evening.
