Kotte Sangha Sabha to appeal Presidential pardon to Gnanasara Thera

The Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Sangha Sabha is planning to write to the President requesting a presidential pardon for Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera who was jailed for a 6-year rigorous imprisonment last week.
The Chief Prelate of the Nikaya, Ven. Iththepane Dhammalankara Thera announced this when a group of monks paid a courtesy call on him to discuss the imprisonment of Ven. Gnanasara Thera.
Meanwhile, doctors at Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital stated that the scheduled surgery on the Thera was not performed as they had observed an abnormality in the Thera’s heartbeat.
The Deputy Director of the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital Dr. Prabath Werawatte stated that a team of specialists is currently inspecting Gnanasara Thera’s condition.
