Joint opposition party leaders will meet this afternoon to decide on whether that Joint Opposition MPs should remain independent in Parliament.

The meeting will take place with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the chair.

The Joint Opposition is demanding that the post of Opposition Leader should be given to them.

However, the Speaker recently announced that he is not in a position to change the post as the JO members are representing the UPFA, the coalition partner of the Unity Government.
