Conditions for female inmates protesting on Welikada Prison roof-top

Justice and Prisons Reforms Ministry Secretary Mangalika Adhikari has instructed Prisons Commissioner General to study the facts that had led to the protest by the Welikada Prison’s female inmates.
 
The Ministry Secretary has said that if the female inmates staging the protest by climbing the roof-top, is willing to end the agitation, she was prepared to arrange an officer to hold a discussion with them.
 
Today is the second day of the protest launched by the female prison inmates.
 
They are saying that there are no proper facilities in the prison and demanding that court cases be expedited.
 
The four inmates who sustained injuries due to clashes among them are still receiving treatment at the Prison Hospital.
