Heavy Rain fall and strong winds predicted for today - Sluice gates at six reservoirs remain open

The met department forecasts strong Winds and heavy rainfall to continue throughout the island today.

Showers or thunderstorms can be expected in Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kaluthara, Galle and Matara districts.

Fairly heavy rainfall,  about 75 mili meters can be expected in certain regions, with intermittent showers in North-western province and in Colombo, Gampaha and Hambantota districts.

The disaster Management centre stated that Due to incessant rainfall, sluice gates at the Upper Kothmale, Mawussakale, Lakshapana, Norton Bridge, Canyon and Polgolla reservoirs are still open.
