A statement was recorded from former UNP Kelaniya organizer Bevan Perera following a complaint lodged by racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa regarding a plan to assassinate him.

A senior spokesman of Deputy DIG office Western Province Northern Division told us that police had already recorded a statement from him.

Dilantha Malagamuwa on 15th of this month called at the office of DIG West (North Division) to make a statement regarding the alleged plan to assassinate him.

On July 7th of this year, Dilantha Malagamuwa lodged a complaint with the police headquarters regarding the death threat levelled against him.

He was informed by the police of those threats after a member of an underworld gang had revealed those details during interrogation.

Meanwhile, police had received information that a ‘mini uzi’ firearm the underworld members had used at the jewelry burglary that took place on 2nd June this year in Matara could have been used to kill Malagamuwa.

Later Dilantha Malagamuwa said that the relevant contract had been given by UNP Kelaniya organizer and People’s Estate Development Board’s Executive Director Bevan Perera.

Dilantha Maalagmuwa also said that this contract had been given over a dispute regarding a land owned by him at Nawalapitiya.
