Train fares to be revised from October

A spokesperson at the Ministry of Transport said that train fares will be revised with effect from 01st of October.
Train fares have not been revised for 10 years.
The revision will be done as per the 15 percent increase approved through the budget last year.
A 5-member committee headed by the Railways General Manager has been appointed to come up with relevant recommendations.
The views of station masters and controllers were also sought regarding the revision.
The recommended revision has been sent to the Ministry of Transport at the beginning of this month and the Gazette will be released shortly.
