Gazette to reduce prices of cancer drugs to be issued within two weeks

Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says that the Gazette to reduce prices of 10 cancer drugs and 25 medical equipment will be issued within two weeks.

The Minister said this during a meeting of Non-communicable diseases council.

The Minister said that the government spends around Rs. seven billion to import medicinal drugs and with this price reduction it will come down by Rs. two billion.

He also revealed the cancer drug which was sold at Rs. 280,000 when the Good Governance government came into power, is now sold at Rs. 144,000.
