Security men of Group of 16 to be reinstated

The government has decided to reinstate the ministerial security details for the SLFP’s Group of 16 until further notice.
Their security details were earlier removed following the group’s resignation from the government.
The decision was taken during a VIP security committee meeting chaired by Minister of Law and Order, Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
 A Cabinet Minister’s security detail comprises of seven officers from the Ministerial Security Division.
A State or Deputy Minister is given three to four MSD officers.
An MP’s security detail is limited to two officers.
Former Minister, Dayasiri Jayasekera said that the SLFP’s Group of 16 has never requested the government to restore their security.
