Vice Chairman of Lindula Urban Council arrested

The vice chairman of Lindula Urban Council in Talawakelle, L. Bharathidasan was arrested earlier today.

Bharathidasan who represents Ceylon Workers' Congress was arrested following a complaint that he has committed fraud by forcefully acquiring several plots of land in St. Clare Estate.

The suspect will be produced before Nuwara Eliya Magistrate today.

The complaint against the vice chairman states that he committed the fraud in the guise of distributing land to needy estate workers.
