The 15-member “Salaries commission” appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena, to study anomalies of public sector wages and to formulate a national policy will meet on next Monday for the first time under the patronage of the President.
 
President Maithripala Sirisen appointed the members to the Commission for a two months period commencing August 20, 2018.
 
Former senior administrative officer S. Ranugge is the Chairman of the Commission and H. G. Sumanasinghe appointed as the Secretary to the 15-member Commission.
 
Other members of the Commission are K. L. L. Wijeratne, T. P. Collure, C. P. Siriwardene, Sudharma Karunaratne, Janaka Sugathadasa, Dharani S. Wijetilleke, Lalith R. de Silva, G. S. Edirisinghe, A. R. Deshapriya, B. P. P. S. Abeygunarathne, Dr. Palitha Abeykoon, P. Thangamayil, S. D. Jayakody and M. C. Wickramasekara.
 
The Commission is set to consider the current anomalies in state sector wages and make recommendations on how they could be overcome.
 
Further, the Commission will also investigate means through which they can minimize the anomalies currently affecting the Railway, health, higher education, tertiary education and postal service sectors.
