Development Officer arrested for accepting a bribe

The Bribery Commission today arrested a Development Officer attached to Aliyadiwemby Divisional Secretariat in Akkaraipattu for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 45,000 to release funds to a contractor for a completed project.
It was revealed that he had demanded money to release the relevant cheque to the contractor.
The suspect was arrested while he was accepting the money inside a grocery.
