The Attorney General’s Department informed the Court today that it has found that the former Central Bank Governor, Arjuna Mahendran is present in Singapore.
 
This was disclosed when the case on the Central Bank Bond Scam was taken up before Fort Magistrate, Lanka Jayarathna today.
 
At the same time, the Attorney General’s Department said that Arjuna Mahendran has applied through Interpol in Singapore, for copies of the arrest warrant and the charges made against him by the CID.
 
Appearing for the Attorney General’s Department, Haripriya Jayasundera told the court that her department would look into the legal provisions to provide such documents to the defendant and, inform the details to the court in the future.
 
At that point, the Magistrate ordered the Attorney General to make submissions to the court of the measures that have been taken with regard to the arrest warrant on former Central Bank Governor, Arjuna Mahendran at the next hearing.
 
Meanwhile, two suspects already in remand in connection with the bond scam, Perpetual Treasuries owner, Arjun Aloysius and its CEO, Kasun Palisena were further remanded until 30th of August today.
 
In addition, senior deputy Solicitor General, Haripriya Jayasundera raised objections to the release of one billion rupees to Perpetual Treasuries Limited which is currently suspended by the Central Bank.
