Provincial Council delimitation report is defeated; 139 voted against

Friday, 24 August 2018 - 18:45

The delimitation report was defeated by a two-thirds majority in parliament a short while ago.

It is significant that nobody voted for the report as the 139 members present in the house at that time voted against the report.

Members of the JVP were also not present in the house at the time of the vote.

Earlier, Minister Faizer Mustapha told parliament that the SLFP also decided to vote against the delimitation report.

He said the party took a policy decision in that manner after taking the shortcomings of the report into consideration.
