President Maithripala Sirisena paid his last respects to the late Chandra Rajapaksa, the brother of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, at their residence in Medamulana this morning.

President’s Media Division noted that President Maithripala Sirisena conveyed his deepest sympathies to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the family members.

Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa, Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and the Chief Minister of the Western Province, Isura Devapriya too paid their last respects to late Chandra Rajapaksa, this morning.

Upon paying his last respects, President Maithripala Sirisena engaged in a cordial conversation with former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, MP Chamal Rajapaksa and former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Subsequently, President Maithripala Sirisena paid a courtesy call on the Chief Incumbent of Weerakatiya Historic Nai-gala Puraana Raja-mahaa Vihara, Venerable Murutha-wela Sumana Thera and engaged in religious observances.
