Subject Minister, Faizer Mustapha says that he cannot take the responsibility for the defeat of the Delimitation Report in parliament.

Addressing a media conference held in his office, minister, Mustapha said that there were a lot of shortcomings in the report.

The delimitation committee was appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena on October 4th of last year in order to hold the election under the ward system.

The five-member committee was chaired by Retired Surveyor, Kanagarathnam Thawalingam.

A vote was taken on August 24th and the committee report was defeated by 139 votes as nobody voted for the report.

It is significant that minister Mustapha who moved the report also voted against it.

However, the chairman of the committee, Kanagarathnam Thawalingam told our news team that his report is 100% accurate.

Rejecting the charges made by the subject minister, Thawalingam said that the reports cost the government 16 million rupees.
