President directs police to eradicate narcotics

President Maithreepala Sirisena has informed the IGP to step up the process that is underway to curb drug racketeering activities in the North and East.

The President’s task force assigned to North and East provincial development convened yesterday for the second time under the patronage of the President at the president's office.

During the meeting, concerns were drawn towards the development programs being carried out in the areas.

The opposition leader, R. Sambanthan, governors from the north and east provinces, state ministers as well as commanders of the tri-forces and the IGP were present at the meeting.
