Retirement age of specialist doctors extended by three years

The retirement age of specialist doctors has been extended to 63.
 
The relevant gazette had been issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Management last Monday.
 
The Gazette has been effective retrospectively from June 6, last year.
 
The previous retirement age for specialist doctors was 60 years.
 
Minister of Public Administration and Management, Ranjith Maddumabandara said that the decision was taken due to the dearth of specialist doctors.
