Stern action if protesters inconvenience public - Police

The Police has said that it would take stern action if the protest organised by the Joint Opposition (JO) inconvenienced the public in any way.
The statement was made by DIG Ajith Rohana.

However, the petitions filed by three police stations to halt the protest was refused by courts.

Accordingly, the Colombo Magistrate's Court which heard the petition filed by the Cinnamon Gardens Police noted that according to the Constitution, the public had the right to gather in any location.
