UNP MP who stepped down from ministerial position to be reappointed as minister

It has been reported that the United National Party (UNP) has decided to give a ministerial portfolio to UNP MP who had previously resigned from a ministerial position.

It is reported that the decision to re-appoint a UNP MP as a minister was taken at the UNP Central Committee meeting held on Tuesday evening.
However, it is not clear as to who would be given the ministerial portfolio.

It should be noted that UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake had previously resigned from his portfolio of Foreign Minister due to the Central Bank bond scam.

In addition, former State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran had also stepped down from her portfolio following her statements made regarding the LTTE.
