Maharagama UC employees refrain from work

All employees of the Maharagama Urban Council have refrained from attending work as a mark or protest after the Chairman of the Council Viraj Lakruwan had allegedly assaulted a group of employees.

It should be noted that Lakruwan had earlier instructed the employees to address him as 'sir'. 

Accordingly, the employees have accused the Chairman of assaulting four employees attached to the Electricity unit and demanding that they kneel down.

It is reported that the four employees had goe toa liquor shop on their way home last night.

They have alleged that Lakruwan who had arrived at the place had assaulted them.
