Chairperson of the Office on Missing Persons (OMP), Saliya Peiris PC, says that according to the sessions and research carried out by the office, poverty was the main problem faced by families of those who had disappeared.

The Chairperson had made this observation while speaking to a media outlet.

He pointed out that these families would not be able to cope with their situation if they are to wait for a solution for the disappeared persons.

He pointed out that therefore, the OMP in its interim report had listed out several interim solutions for the affected families.
