Bus unions demand 10% increase in bus fare

The All Island Private Bus Union Federation has demanded a 10% fare hike in proportion to the fuel price increase.

Chief Secretary of the federation, Anjana Priyanjith told our news team that the minimum fare which is currently Rs. 12  should be increased to Rs. 15.

Meanwhile, a discussion between the Interprovincial private bus union and the National Transport Commission is scheduled to be held later today.

Chairman of the union, Sarath Wijitha Kumara said that he would inform the commission regarding the need for bus fares to be revised consequent to the fuel price hike.
