Tamil detainees have said that the Tamil political leadership had failed to address their long-term issues.

In a statement released through their relatives, the detainees pointed out that the Tamil political leadership had failed to fulfil its pledges to the detainees and to the people regarding their release.

They said that the leaders had continuously promised to take steps to release them, but had failed so far.

They said that Tamil leaders were not ready to speak up on behalf of the detainees and the Tamil people.
