President address media heads

President Maithripala Sirisena who meet heads of media institutions said the government would draft a set of proposals to address post-war issues in the country and presented it to the United Nations on September 25.

In addition, he also spoke about the ongoing investigations into the murder of Lasantha Wickrematunge, assault on Keith Noyahr, the disappearance of Prageeth Ekneligoda, and the abduction of 11 youths.

The President pointed out that there had been a delay in filing an action against the suspects connected to these incidents.

He also said that despite cases not being filed, several military personnel had been arrested and were being kept in remand for a long period of time.

He told the media heads that he had called upon the officers of the CID and other investigating officers and had instructed them to expedite the process without detaining military personnel for a long period of time without filing action.

The President also noted that National Security had not been weakened.

Speaking further, the President also said that a decision will be taken in the near future on whether to continue with the fuel pricing formula owing to the confusions that have arisen over fuel price revisions.
