A request has been made to the Chief Justice that cases with regard to possessing elephants illegally also be taken up at the Special High Court.

It is reported that the Attorney General has made the request.

While 3 Special High Courts were to be established to hear cases of massive fraud and corruption, the 1st of it commenced proceedings on the 21st of last month.

Cases are to be filed against those who possess elephants without a valid licence under the Public Property Act and Penal Code.

A first case is to be filed against infamous elephant smuggler Ali Roshan and 2 other Government officials involved with him.
