The reason behind the fatal accident in Omanthai revealed

A motorcar collided with a train at an unprotected level crossing in Panri-keitha-kulam in Omanthei – Vavuniya this morning around 10.30.

It is reported that the motorcar has collided with the express train plying from Jaffna to Matara, leaving four women dead.

Police stated that the engine of the vehicle has stopped as it was passing the unprotected level crossing.

Another two individuals who sustained injuries in the accident have been admitted to Vavuniya Hospital.

A 10 year old child who was also in the motorcar at the time of the incident has got thrown out of the vehicle.
