Point Pedro fishermen launch protest

Fishermen in Point Pedro commenced a protest demanding the authorities to stop fishermen from other areas to fish in their seas.

Accordingly, a group of fishermen who had entered the seas off Vadamaratchi East were captured by the Point Pedro fishermen for illegally entering the seas.

The fishermen refused to release them unto the arrival of the Director of the Northern Province Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

They said they would continue the protest until their demands are met.
