The National Transport Commission says that if the fuel is raised to a price point that exceeds the national bus fare policy, a revision of bus fares will take place once again.

National Transport Commission chairman M. A. P. Hemachandra told our news team that the bus fare would go up if the fuel price percentage was raised higher than the bus fare policy.

The Transport and Civil Aviation Ministry had decided to raise the bus fare by 4 per cent at midnight on the 20th this month.

The bus fare has been revised on two occasions this year.
The minimum bus fare was raised from. 10 to 12 rupees, with the overall bus fare being increased by 12.5 per cent. Bus fares were revised proportionately according to the increase in fuel price.

Meanwhile, reports state that in the future fuel prices could rise again due to the continual depreciation of the rupee.

The Fuel Price Revision Committee is scheduled to meet the 10th each month where The Fuel price will be amended in accordance with the newly introduced price formula.

National Transport Commission Chairman M. A. P. Hemachandra said that if a considerable fuel price hike took place, bus fares would also increase in relation to the hike.
