JO calls for emergency parliamentary session: Speaker refers request to PM

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has referred the call made by the Joint Opposition for an emergency parliamentary session to the Prime Minister.

According to the Speaker's Office, the Prime Minister who has the right to call an emergency meeting in Parliament and therefore the matter has been referred to him.

MP Dinesh Gunawardena has called for an emergency parliamentary session to discuss issues concerning security of the country.
