Excessive Rainfall and thunderstorms predicted for today

The met department states that Due to a low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the prevailing rains are expected to enhance over the island over the next few days ,  particularly, in the North-central, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces .

rain or thunderstorms will occur in the most parts of the island during evening or night.

Duty Meteorologist Shanika Dissanayaka stated that Heavy rainfall exceeding  100 mili meters can be expected in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Western and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara districts.
