Strong winds hit Puthlam, Severe Thunderstorms and heavy Rainfall has been forecast for today

The met department states that Due to the low level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, prevailing rains are expected to enhance island wide , particularly in the North-western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces over the next few days.

Showers or thunderstorms will occur in the most regions after 2.00p.m.

Duty Meteorologist   malinda millangoda  stated that Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mili meters can be expected in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Southern and North-western provinces.
