The met department states that the depression in the Bay of Bengal has concentrated into a deep depression and is located 950km away from Trincomalee.

Due to this, prevailing rainfall is expected to enhance in the next two days.

Duty Meteorologist Shanika Dissanayaka stated that heavy rainfall, exceeding 150 mili meters can be expected in Western, North-western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara districts.

The Disaster Management Center stated that least 9 persons have died, and 48 thousand people have been affected by the adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the landslide warning issued yesterday for Badulla, Kalutara, Galle, and Kegalle districts is still in effect.
