Supreme Court says the 20th Amendment needs a referendum and two-thirds majority

The Supreme Court informed the Speaker that two-thirds majority is required to pass certain Clauses of the 20th Amendment.

The 20th Amendment Draft Bill was presented to parliament recently by the JVP.

In addition, a referendum should also be conducted in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Appropriation Bill for 2019 was presented to parliament by Finance Minister, Mangala Samaraweera today.

It was approved by the Cabinet recently.
