The Indian national who is in remand in connection with the alleged assassination plot, told the Court today that the CID, on the instruction of the Indian Government; attempted to kill him on 4 occasions.

He was arrested at the Warakapola house which belongs to the operation director of the Anti Corruption Brigade, Namal Kumara.

Meanwhile, the Government Analyst confirmed to Court today that the voice samples of the former DIG attached to the Terrorism Investigation Division, Nalaka de Silva and the operation director of Anti Corruption Brigade, Namal Kumara tally with their voices on the controversial audio clips.

According to the Government Analyst’s report, 123 samples out of 124 collected from both Nalaka and Namal for the test, tally with their voices on the audio clip.

In addition, the Government Analyst report has sought international assistance to retrieve some of the telephone conversations that had been deleted by Namal Kumara.

Having allowed international assistance, the court ordered the CID to send the official computer, private mobile phone and the CD containing his telephone conversation, to the Government Analyst.

In addition, the CID told the court that attention should be drawn to various conversations made by Nalaka de Silva on a fake Facebook page.

At the same time, the Indian national pleaded with the Court to allow him to make a statement in writing.

Later, the Magistrate granted him a period of two hours to make his written statement.

The suspect will be produced before the court again on November 21.

Meanwhile, DIG Nalaka de Silva reported to the CID at 1 pm today for the 4th consecutive day.

He is questioned in connection with the alleged plot to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
