The Met Department forecasts that the prevailing wet weather will intensify tomorrow as well.

Meanwhile, sluice gates of several reservoirs have been opened due to heavy rains in their catchments.

At the same time, a part of the150 foott high garbage mound in Bandarawela has collapsed due to heavy rain.

In addition, the Disaster Management Center stated landslide warnings issued for the districts of Kandy, Matale and several divisional secretariats of the Nuwara Eliya district will be in force further.

Meanwhile, a fisherman died and two others were injured when a lightning bolt struck near the Kavudulla reservoir.

In addition, five female workers of Teresa estate in Bogawantalawa were hospitalized after they went into shock due to a lightning strike that struck close by.

The Disaster Management Center requested motorists to use alternative roads to avoid traffic between Nittambuwa and Pasyala.
