Several reservoirs continue to spill over due to heavy rains during the last 24 hours.

Reports say that the sluice gates of Raajaanganaya, Thabbowa, Kukuleganga, Angamuwa, Victoria and Kotmale reservoirs are opened.

Disaster Management Centre Assistant Director Pradeep Kodippili said that people in low – lying areas around these reservoirs should be vigilant.

The met department states that Prevailing showery condition in the Eastern province is expected to enhance to some extent today.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places over the island after 2.00pm.

Duty Meteorologist Malinda Millangoda stated that Heavy falls over 100 mili meters will occur at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern provinces and in Galle, Matara and Polonnaruwa districts.
