MP Arjuna Ranatunga was arrested in connection with the shooting in which a worker was killed at the headquarters of the Petroleum Corporation at Dematagoda.

Workers of the Petroleum Corporation protested when MP Arjuna Ranatunga attempted to enter his office at the headquarters of the Corporation in Dematagoda last afternoon.

Meanwhile, petroleum workers charge that a security guard opened fire on the orders of MP Ranatunga.

Meanwhile, SLFP trade union president, Bandula Saman Kumara stated that legal action will be taken against MP Ranatunga.

At the same time, MP Arjuna Ranatunga was released on a 500 thousand rupee surety bail when he was produced before Colombo Additional magistrate Priyantha Liyanage this afternoon.

In addition, the security guard who opened fire has also been produced before Court and will be remanded until the 12th of November.
